Discover the experimental Nordic folk fusion band Jotunger
Jotunger, rooted in Denmark, brings ancient soundscapes to life through unique performances blending Celtic, Nordic, and symphonic music.
Immerse yourself in well-known songs of old, echoing Celtic and Nordic soundscapes from centuries ago, and original compositions which draw their breath from this heart of history in a fusion with symphonic arrangements and the nerve and power from primal folk and heavy metal.
From intimate and alluring songs, through to dramatic, dark and heavy lamentations.
Let your fantasy take flight when enchanting ancient instruments, powerful vocals and interactive storytelling are woven into a unique universe. A universe which carries the listener over majestic mountains, soaring on a leaf through hidden valleys and treading the paths of ancient forests where the creatures of folklore and the raw power of the ancients come alive.
For more than seven years, we have established ourselves on the Danish Viking and folk scene, emerging as one of the most sought-after Viking/folk fusion bands.
Our repertoire is big and can be tailored depending on the need. Besides performing our own compositions we specialise in Viking Age style music, Medieval music, Fantasy and Nordic and Celtic folk music.
JOTUNGER is an innovative Nordic folk fusion band, blending various musical genres. With decades of global touring experience, our members bring diverse backgrounds in Musicology, History, Ethnomusicology, and Cultural Heritage Studies. This expertise adds a fun and educational layer to our performances, especially at Viking festivals across Scandinavia and in collaboration with Danish museums.
We perform as a trio, quartet, or full band. Recently, we collaborated on the award-nominated concept Whisky & Witches at Copenhagen Distillery, performed at the National Museum of Denmark, and toured Viking and Fantasy Festivals all summer.
In 2024, we recorded the Nordic/Celtic Symphonic Folk Fusion project “Echoes of North,” penned by Christine Kammerer.
